This series of works was made from a search to highlight a lack of connection between oneself and the world around them.

The photographs have been shot with a focal length between 23cm and 60cm, which is more or less the distance which we keep screens from our faces, arguably showing what beauties are missed every day while we are self-absorbed with our problems, work, entertainment, and well…..life. 

Yet, it is everyday life that occurs around us, in the supermarket, at a pub with friends, while buying flowers or at home. We are there, but we are not. Not mentally, emotionally…

Silver (conductive), and gold (protection) leaves are applied to the paper's surface in order to materialize this crumbling connection between the images and ourselves, trying to fill the voids that exist around us. But it is a very fragile connection, just like the metallic leaves on some of the pictures. We need to be attentive and caring.
