angustia (she)

is there someone always observing us - even if it's just ourselves? or is there anyone at all?

angustia unveils a series of faces emerging from a blue forest of cyanotype, where sometimes they hide and others, bloom their beauty. leaving the viewer to become the omnipresent self that sees - or is being seen. the use of the wet cyanotype process, which is very volatile and unpredictable, brings another layer of uncertainty to this symbiotic relationship between the feminine, the process and nature

From the Greek Angor. In Latin Angustus, meaning narrowing.

Anguish in English

From when we take care of you, me and she hide in plain sight.

While our world is being destroyed leaf by leaf, I camouflage my anguish.

It’s like I’m in a forest, and someone is always looking at me

What is this:

Series Angústia (she)

From the Greek Angor. In Latin Angustus, meaning narrowing.

Anguish in English

A construction of faces made from a mix of chemistry with nature and the feminine, sometimes hidden in cyanotype forest, sometimes in full show, where we don’t know if we are seen it or be seen

What is it trying to say?

There is always someone observing us, even if it is only ourselves

Or is there anyone at all?

This work reflects the artist's neurotic relationship with Mother Nature as the observee or the observer, and how we respond to it.

Nature, a common subject of his work, this time representing the feminine; hiding as symbiotic faces form in a blue forest.

How was it made?

Wet cyanotype is a very volatile process, and Marcelo uses negatives and plants to build an image in it. The video shows one of the pieces slowly changing as it dries, bringing to the spectator the end part of this composition.
